Travel Advice To Combat Bad Breath
With the holiday's quickly approaching, traveling is inevitable for most people. Long flights and long car rides leave you feeling drained and your breath as stale as a 3-year-old fruit cake. Disgusting... we know. You need to leave a great new image of yourself in your distant relative's minds. After all, these are the people you only see once a year. Don't be the bad breath cousin, uncle, or whatever. So, here are 5 presents for your mouth while you're traveling this holiday season.
1. Travel-Size Mouthwash
The gas station pit-stop has turned into a candy and soda pop stockpiling. We suggest grabbing a travel mouthwash with the Snickers bar and Red Bull. Having a mini bottle of mouthwash can help rinse away lingering food that could cause... you guessed it, bad breath and/or cavities. For the air travelers, remember, you CAN carry-on liquids up to 3.4 oz. when placed in a quart size zip-loc bag.
2. Pre-Pasted Mini Toothbrush
These palm-sized toothbrushes provide freshness when you can't get to a sink for a real brushing. Most of these mini toothbrushes also come with a toothpick on the end for quick flossing or hard-to-reach spot. The great thing about these products is they require no water, and the ingredients are safe to swallow.
3. Toothbrush Cover
Keeping your toothbrush in a travel cover is essential; there's nothing worse than getting to your destination to find your toothbrush dirty. A toothbrush cover keeps everything else in your bag dry while keeping your toothbrush away from the bacteria that gathers in the bottom of the toiletry bag.
4. Floss
Thankfully, floss already comes in a conveniently small package, making it easy to toss in your carry-on. Get the mint-flavored variety for a little freshness kick while cleaning in between parties.
5. Sugar-Free Gum with Xylitol
There's no doubt that tossing in a piece of gum can save you from a potentially embarrassing encounter with a fellow airplane traveler or family member. According to a 2009 Skyscanner poll of more than 1,000 people, the largest number (19%) felt that "those with bad breath and BO" made the worst seatmates during travel. Keep some sugar-free gum with xylitol with you while traveling to mask bad breath until you can brush your teeth.
