Franklin Dentists Offer Five Ways to Relax and Celebrate Labor Day Weekend

The first Monday in September is Labor Day; a creation of the labor movement to honor the contributions of workers everywhere. Labor Day weekend is traditionally seen as the last weekend of summer as we start to anticipate the gradually cooling temperatures of autumn. And, if you have children, the school year is just getting started.

That makes this holiday weekend the perfect time to relax and take in one last breath of summer. Here are five ways to do just that.

Wander Around

Nashville and Franklin are growing so much it’s hard to keep up with the changes. A three-day weekend is a great excuse to spend a day walking or driving around and discovering what’s in your neighborhood. Check out the new boutique, join friends at a different restaurant and re-discover the city all over again.

Host a Potluck Barbeque

Barbeques are one of the traditional ways to celebrate Labor Day weekend. Avoid spending a lot of time and money by making it a community event. Call your friends and have them bring a side dish and some wine or beer. Then fire up the grill and enjoy the day together.

Escape to the Nearest State Park

Labor day weekend makes a great three-day camping getaway which is a great way to get away without all the expense. Many of the nearby Tennessee State Parks offer cabins for camping.

Organize Home Improvement Projects

If you’re a homeowner, you’ve probably got a thing or two you’ve been meaning to get to all summer but always managed to find something better to do. Use this weekend to take care of those tasks.

This is also a good time to get the jump start on getting ready for fall. But don’t make it all work. Invite a friend to help in exchange for dinner afterward.

Catch a Minor League Baseball Game
