Aspen Grove Dental Associates Introduce The Family Behind Our Franklin Family Dental Practice: Karen Trammell

Those who know Dr. Trammell will tell you he's one proud family man. "Family" isn't just a word for him, it's a way of life. He's built Aspen Grove Dental around core family values like individual care and personal relationships. They're values that he and his wife, Karen, have worked hard to instill in their family of four as well.

In this post, we sit down with Karen Trammell for a more intimate conversation about family — and like Joe, Karen is all about family...

Karen, tell us a little about your life with Dr. Trammell?

It's hard to believe, but Joe and I have been married now for 27 years! It's so amazing how fast the time goes by when you're raising a family of four together. Monica is now 24, Mallory is 22 and Morgan (we call her Kate) is 19. Max is our baby boy, but he's hardly a baby anymore. He turned 11 this year.

Growing up in Bon Aqua, Tennessee, I was raised to value family and the importance of spending time together. It's actually what brought Joe and me together in the first place. My brother invited me to play in a tennis match with one of his dental school classmates. That person was Joe and it was love at first sight! We met several more times on the court before we started dating and, even today, we still enjoy a good tennis match together.

What would you say makes your husband a great dentist?

Joe's worked hard to build a staff that supports his vision of taking care of the whole family. You'll fall in love with our staff! They and Joe will treat you like you are part of our family from the moment you walk in. He never forgets a name and he doesn't stop thinking about you when you leave the office. If you have a major procedure, Joe likes to check up on you a few days later to be sure you're okay.

Joe's also serious when it comes to providing the best dental care. He treats people like their humans and not just patients. He spends the time to explain what he's doing and why and to make sure you understand and are comfortable with any procedure.

He wants the best for his patients, just like he wants the best for his family. He's always researching and working with the latest technology.

What was the last major event you attended?

We look for opportunities where our family can work together to help others and make memories at the same time. A few Saturdays ago, Joe, I, three of our children, and Bella, our dog, participated in the 11th Annual Hike For The Homeless at Edwin Warner Park. The weather was beautiful, we were joined by a group of great people and we helped Safe Haven Family Shelter raise more than their target $100,000 that will go to help homeless families in the middle Tennessee area.

What are you looking forward to this holiday season/in the new year?

We decided several years ago that we wanted to make a conscious effort to create memories during the holiday season. The memories, instead of things, are the gifts we wanted to give and receive. So, I'm looking forward to Thanksgiving because all of our children will be home.

We plan a trip or cruise around the first of the New Year each year which brings us all together in a new experience. This Christmas we'll be cruising and making memories on another new adventure.

What would you tell someone who was considering using your husband as their family dentist?

Joe knew he wanted to be a Dentist since he was nine years old. He has such a loving and caring heart and really gets to know his patients and their families. Because of the friendships, he’s made with his patients he has several that have moved out of state or out of the country that still uses him as their family dentist. I think that says a lot about the level of trust and caring new families can expect.

What are the Three Things You Can't Live Without?

The three things I wouldn’t want to live without are God, Joe, and our children. Some people might think this sounds contrived but I like to keep it simple and real. That's what family is all about.

Thank you, Karen!!

All of us at Aspen Grove Dental wish you and your family many happy memories and good times during this holiday season.
